About

The first version of this blog was intended as a documentation of my attempt to ride the 100 mile route of the El Tour de Tucson for the first time in 2016 in under seven hours.

I did ride El Tour that year, but I did not keep this blog up to date. Eventually, I shut it down - one of the many monuments to my lost motivation, lack of time and other obstacles to the goal of maintaining an active online presence that I was unable to overcome. I’ve continued to ride at least one version of El Tour every year since 2016 – including 2023.

This time, I’ve a new set of goals for 2024 – to return to the 100 mile version of El Tour de Tucson and to ride the Rapha Festive 500 – along with maintaining this blog as a record. These goals imply others, which implies (to me) that there will be a story.

The name is a reference to the amount of time I anticipate it will take to achieve those goals - a full year plus seven hours (or less) to ride in El Tour de Tucson.
